(a) Packing trunk; Canvas covered wooden trunk; metal reinforcing hardware (rusted); leather handles; lock broken; some abrasions to canvas; edges reinforced with red metal; lid and bottom have wooden cross supports; Interior has supports for tray and is cloth lined with flowered paper trim; cloth is ripped and stained with ink; lid appears to have contained tacked on large leather label (remnants remain) approximately 14"L x 8 1/2"W; contents of trunk included - aspirin, fish hooks, and old Great Smoky Mountains National Park label, percussion caps, rope (all bagged); 1 metal hinge for lid; "H. Kephart" written on left end in large letters; cardstock label tacked on right end "Horace Kephart, Bryson, N.C." (b) Tray; cloth lined; cloth stained and torn; tray somewhat bowed at the back; has finger holes for lifting.
